British soprano Cally Youdell studied at the Royal Northern College of Music where she won the Chris Petty English Song prize in 2015. She moved to the Netherlands to study for her masters at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague and receives vocal tuition from renowned British soprano Rosemary Joshua. Cally won a Dartington International Summer School Bursary in 2015 to study with Emma Kirkby and Carolyn Sampson and was a 2016 Iford Arts New Generation Artist, where she covered the roles of Titania and Hermia in Purcell’s Fairy Queen directed by Timothy Nelson. Her recent operatic roles have included Nunzia (La Liberazione di Ruggiero for Brighton Early Music Festival), Belinda (Dido and Aeneas for a lunchtime concert at Dutch National Opera), Papagena (Die Zauberflöte with Timothy Nelson) and Drusilla (Poppea), La Musica (L’Orfeo) and Poppea (Agrippina), all directed by Michael Chance in The Hague. She performs regularly with lutenist Mike Fentross and La Sfera Armoniosa, has sung as a soloist on Dutch national radio conducted by Peter Van Heyghen, at the Zenarruzza Sacred Music Festival in the Basque Country and in concert with Charles Daniels. She recently toured to New York for a project with Julliard and Ton Koopman and sang in the Young Talent chorus of Mohammed Fairouz's new opera The New Prince with Dutch National Opera. This summer 2017 Cally is covering the roles of Fortuna and Melanto in Monteverdi's 'Ulisse' at The Grange Festival in the UK, run by Michael Chance.
